Player Grading Guidelines

Players in the U8 age groups and above have to take part in compulsory grading.

Grading dates will be available on the events page.

In general

In the circumstance of too many players initially registered we apply a set of grading guidelines:
  • We love organised players – first in, first served for registrations
  • We love loyalty – we prioritise players than have previously represented Gordon FC
  • We love hard workers – players that grade well are prioritised
  • We love team players – let us know if you can recruit multiple players to the club and we will prioritise you
  • We love playing – if we don’t have sufficient players in a grade we may ask players to play up
  • We love committed players – players that can commit to playing every game are prioritised

How do we manage the process

  • Our youngest players are free spirits – no grading for U6 and U7
  • U8 and above grading is managed on our club grading day by our independent coaching partners
  • Late registered players will be placed on our wait list and into our lowest graded team. They will be assessed by our Coaching Coordinator Lead

Players are assessed by the following criteria

  • First Touch (control)
  • Striking the ball - passing
  • Striking the ball - shooting
  • 1 vs 1 attack
  • 1 vs 1 defence
  • Decision making
  • Small sided games
  • Full field game (for U12+)
